EXPLORERS offers even greater adventures for campers who have completed 8th or 9th grade. This program is for those who are looking to spend extended time away in nature and adventure to places like Rhode Island, Cape Cod, and New Hampshire. Explorers is the advanced group of the Adventures program. Potential adventures include white water rafting, waterfall rappelling, high ropes courses, stand-up paddle-boarding, and biking. Each session includes multiple nights of camping each session (three during the first week and four during the second week), making it ideal for campers who love to spend time under the stars. While camping, they will be exploring new areas, preparing their own meals, and enjoying nights by the campfire.
Note: Camping is a required component of the Explorers session, as such, there is not an on-campus alternative. Hiking, biking and kayaking / canoeing will also take place during each session. Campers must be able to bike up to 10 miles. Please ensure that your camper is comfortable with these activities before signing up!
Drop-off and pick-up will occur at Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall every day, except when campers are away for their overnight trip. Drop-off runs from 8:15am - 8:40am. The camp day runs from 8:55am - 3:25pm. Pick-up runs from 3:30pm - 4:00pm. When a group leaves for a camping trip, it returns in time for dismissal on Friday. Bus and Extended Day options are also available!
