Lifeguard or WSI Swim Instructor

We have two positions available at the pool - lifeguard or WSI swim instructor. Upon completing the application, you will be contacted by our Pool Director to figure out what opportunity is best for you!

What You Will Do

ALL POOL STAFF:
  • Be available for the camp season, June 24 through August 16, Monday to Friday, 8:15am-4:00pm
  • Participate in pre-camp training and professional development
  • Assist with daily pool opening and closure
  • Perform rescue drills and procedures
  • Maintain a positive attitude and an enthusiasm for your work with all campers
  • Practice self-care in order to put your best foot forward
  • Communicate effectively with leadership team, counselors, campers, and parents
  • Be safe and have fun with the whole Running Brook community!
LIFEGUARDS:
  • Supervise participants in the swimming area for all lessons and free swim periods.
  • Share responsibility of lifeguarding for afternoon Extended Day program (additional compensation provided)
SWIM INSTRUCTORS:
  • Instruct 6 classes of campers of all ages in Red Cross swim program
  • Write reports and chart campers’ swim progress
  • Supervise participants in the swimming area
  • Share responsibility of lifeguarding for afternoon Extended Day program (additional compensation provided)

What You Need

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification
  • able to re-certify with us if expiration is within 1 month of camp starting or if it expires during the summer
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • WSI certification preferred (Swim Instructors Only)
  • 1+ years of experience (Swim Instructors Only)
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours
